When BUFF Nail Studio approached us to style their 5th birthday celebration, we knew this milestone deserved more than just a party. It was a moment to honour the journey — celebrating their boutique growth, loyal team members, and a future filled with promise. The brief was clear: create an all-out blue birthday cocktail event that felt stylish, fun and deeply on-brand.
What followed was a seamless fusion of editorial styling and sensory experience, anchored by one simple but powerful idea — edible branding. This is how we brought BUFF’s story to life, one delicious detail at a time.
BUFF’s 5th birthday wasn’t just a celebration; it was a statement. The slogan, “Nailing it since 2020,” perfectly captured the pride and momentum behind their success. Gathering 50 staff from across boutiques for an evening of awards, tarot readings and a signature cocktail, the event was designed to feel both intimate and impactful.

From the outset, BUFF wanted their signature blue and chrome to dominate the visual story. We chose the Sunset Disco Studio — a naturally lit space with sleek chrome finishes — as the perfect blank canvas. This backdrop allowed the colour palette to pop with maximum impact.
Partnering with Elle Creative Studio, we commissioned custom blue mirror signage to inject that extra layer of luxe and dimension. Draped satin in blue and silver added drama to the grazing table and bar, elevating everyday elements into something extraordinary.
A unique highlight was the tarot card reader, Miss Fortune Reads, who connected the past, present and future — perfectly reflecting BUFF’s milestone spirit.
Branded lollies might seem playful, but their role went beyond simple treats. These strawberry-flavoured, white lollies with BUFF’s iconic blue logo (created by Emily’s Lollies) became little ambassadors of the brand — sweet, memorable and effortlessly shareable. They offered guests a tangible connection to the event and reinforced the brand identity in a lighthearted way.
Then there was the show-stopper cake by Bakes By Her: a tall, tiered buttercream masterpiece adorned with BUFF’s actual products and tools — from hand creams to cuticle scissors. This edible sculpture eloquently told BUFF’s story of craftsmanship and innovation, celebrating the artistry behind their business. It was as much a conversation piece as it was a dessert.
Complementing these elements, the grazing table by Sweet Sensations Melbourne delivered on both style and substance, while locally sourced drinks by BILLY & bobby (in blue and silver cans) maintained the cohesive colour story down to the last detail.
