Radiant florals, bold typography, and customised stationery. Everything needed to encapsulate the birthday girl and her vibrant personality.

Nothing says entering a new decade better than a bright and boujee dinner soiree with your best girlfriends. Held in the comfort of your own home, where you can celebrate til the wee hours of the morning – should you so wish. Here’s how we created the vivacious at-home do for our client who dreamed up something fun and flirty to mark the beginning of her 30’s.

30 is that age a lot of people feel creeping towards them for years, yet as we approach this new chapter we realise just how GOOD 30 actually is. We’re talking confidence in bucket loads and stepping into our best selves, with a decade of lessons and stories – some of them questionable – that only your 20’s can provide.

Honestly, we love 30, and we love what it represents, which is why we were so excited when our client came to us wanting to organise details for a sassy dinner party for her milestone birthday.

THE BRIEF:

The humble dinner party has come a long way – we are in the era of Pinterest boards, TikTok tips and countless saves on Insta, and it’s becoming easier to find inspiration, fine tune the details and customise the little bits and pieces to make an event unique to you.

For this particular occasion, the brief was simple: a little bit chic, a little bit chaotic, with bright pops of colour to keep it flirty and fun, and different to our clients usual monochromatic palette. We wanted radiant florals and customised stationery. Everything needed to work together to encapsulate the birthday girl and her vibrant personality.

Vibrant table setting, with bright tropical florals in the center, wavey candles with pinks and yellows, sitting next to pink see-through deep martini glasses with orange drinks tags. A cake with florals sits to the right of the table and art sit behind the table on a cream wall.

The Boujee Birthday Checklist:

1. Customised sassy stationary, with a bit of oomph

Personalised and customised stationery is basically a non-negotiable for us. It’s the most classy and effective way to make your event stand out, and ensure your guests feel extra special when they see their name on the table.

Elle Creative Studio took care of the place cards and menus, acrylic coasters (we love a little memento for our guests to keep), and unique drink tags. Instead of your classic ‘Dirty Thirty’, the tags had a little spin and ode to our favourite quad led by Carrie Bradshaw in New York City, with a clever – ‘And just like that, 1992 was 30 years ago’

2. Flirty and popping florals, to create the perfect pic

We all love a stunning table setting, more often than not led by stand-out florals that steal the show. To keep the vibe funky, we turned to Feelin’ Snippy, a florist known for her modern and contemporary designs.

The two quirky floral arrangements made up of the gorgeous brights were the perfect amount – proving that sometimes less is more.

3. A killer cake – because, obviously.

Because we believe you can have your cake and eat it, too. In a spin we were obsessing over, our client chose to hone into her British heritage (giving British Bake-Off) and bake and decorate her own cake.

This little DIY number was not only super impressive – and probably very tasty – but it was the final touch to bring everything together. As DIY cake decorating makes a comeback, we couldn’t be more on board with clients giving it a go themselves. BUT, if that’s not for you – we’ve definitely got you covered with incredible suppliers up our sleeves.

We love planning and styling the big events, but we get a kick out of the smaller ones too – being able to find the right suppliers and bring a vision to life knowing how much it will mean to someone (and how many Pinterest-worthy pics we get tagged in along the way) is magic. Sometimes we don’t even need to be on location to bring the magic to life – our keen eye for detail and top-tier organisation (if we do say so ourselves) means we can get the styling to you, and you can add your flourish to the final result.

With a focus on expertly curated styling, rest assured we will work closely with you and bring you along every step of the way to ensure your vision is exactly as you imagine it.

Send us an email to chat, we’d love to make your dream event a reality – no matter how big or small.
